Copenhagen Job Centres

AG5 and Punktum Design strived to create visual clarity and a secure environment in the re-branding and refurbishment of Copenhagen's Employment Centres. As an initiative from the Employment and Integration Department the task was to create an integrated architectural and graphic design proposal incorporating simple way-finding solutions and new digital medias. The assignment included 12 job centre locations where emphasis was placed on each individual centres' context and function.

A new graphic identity was developed using the forms from the existing Job Centre graphics as a starting point. This included the development of custom made furniture, a graphic design manual, logos and way-finding devices. The use of natural colors and recycled timber as the main material for important objects reflected a Nordic design approach. The concept of ​​finding new uses for recycled wood fit nicely with the Job Centres' function. The furniture joinery company Jakon produced the custom furniture elements that form a catalogue of possibilities for each location. The furniture elements were developed to provide the visitor with access to digital information in a private and secure setting while at the same time providing access to natural light and visual connections which the surrounding functions in the Job Centre.  .

The Copenhagen Job Centers can now showcase open and friendly facilities that that merge architecture and information through materials and graphics and light.
